Dolores Cannon & the Three Waves of Volunteers

After more than four decades of hypnosis sessions, Dolores Cannon came to believe that waves of pure souls had come to Earth to help it through a time of great change.

Who was Dolores Cannon?

Dolores Cannon (1931–2014) was born in St. Louis. She first encountered past-life regression in 1968 alongside her husband Johnny, and returned to hypnosis full-time in the late 1970s. She founded Ozark Mountain Publishing in 1992, wrote numerous books from her session work, and in 2002 began teaching the method she developed, QHHT® (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique). Her daughter, Julia Cannon, now leads the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Academy.

QHHT and “the SC”

QHHT works in a very deep trance state. In Cannon’s approach, the practitioner usually guides the client through a past life, then asks questions of what she called “the Subconscious,” later shortened to “the SC.” She did not mean the psychological subconscious. She meant a greater part of the self, always connected to Source, similar to what others call the Higher Self or Oversoul.

We describe QHHT here as a spiritual and exploratory practice. Starseed Journey doesn’t make any claims about physical or mental health outcomes. If you’re curious, the official QHHT website has a directory of trained practitioners.

The call

In The Three Waves of Volunteers and the New Earth (2011), Cannon describes a turning point: the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. As she told it, a call went out, and pure souls who had never lived on Earth, some from other planets and dimensions, volunteered to come and help.

She described their purpose as “two-fold: to raise the energy on Earth to avoid catastrophe and to enhance the frequencies of the population so they can ascend to the New Earth in the next dimension.” Many of these volunteers, she said, were living their first and only life on Earth, which helps explain why so many of them miss “home” so deeply.

The three waves

Cannon described each wave by its age when she was teaching, around 2011–2013. The birth years below are a rough estimate based on those ages, not her exact words.

I

The First Wave · roughly late 1940s to 1960s, by her estimates

The Way-Showers

Cannon placed the first wave among people in their “late 40s to early 60s (the Baby Boomer generation)” at the time. She said they “have had the hardest time adjusting.” They were horrified by violence, deeply disturbed by anger and hate, and they longed to return “home” even though they had no conscious idea where home was. She called them “the pioneers who paved the way”; the official QHHT site calls them the way showers.

II

The Second Wave · roughly 1970s to mid-1980s, by her estimates

The Antennas

Cannon described the second wave, then in their “late 20s and 30s,” as finding the transition easier. They tend to “work behind the scenes,” create little or no karma, and act as “antennas that unconsciously channel energy.” In her words, “They do not have to do anything; they just have to be.” She noted a paradox: they are here to share their energy, “but they do not like being around people.”

III

The Third Wave · roughly 1990s onward, by her estimates

The New Children

The third wave, Cannon said, are “exceptional new children, many of whom are in their teens.” She believed they arrived with what she called enhanced DNA, attuned to the frequency of the New Earth, and described them as the new “hope of the world.” The QHHT site calls them “literally the gift to the world.”

Which wave resonates with you?

Cannon’s waves are about a soul’s character more than the year on a birth certificate. Treat the ages as a loose hint and let the traits speak. Sit with these questions in a quiet moment:

  • The way-shower in you: Have you always felt like you were breaking a trail, struggling so the people after you would have it easier? Does harshness feel almost unbearable?
  • The antenna in you: Do people feel calmer when you are simply in the room, even though you would honestly prefer to be alone? Do you work best quietly, behind the scenes?
  • The new child in you: Do you feel wired for a different world, impatient with old systems, and naturally at home with ideas of a new Earth?

Many people see themselves in more than one wave. That’s perfectly fine. These are mirrors, not boxes.

The New Earth

Cannon taught that Earth itself is shifting. In one interview she said “the Earth is changing its vibration and frequency and preparing to rise into a new dimension.” People whose frequency matches, she said, move with it. She also offered a gentle reminder that many starseeds find comforting: “Earth is a school… but it is not the only school.”

Other Cannon books for starseeds

Keepers of the Garden (1993) describes Earth being seeded with life by advanced caretakers and a watchful “Council.” The Convoluted Universe series (five books, 2001–2015) collects her most mind-bending session material on other dimensions, star origins and Source. You’ll find them all on the Reading List.
